Staples Free School Mission 1781
....for the laudable purpose of erecting and supporting a public free school in said Fairfield, in perpetuum, for the instruction of children and youth in useful knowledge and learning, especially such as are sober, studious and have not estates sufficient for that purpose....
Staples Free School Mission Today
....the entire yearly income of said trust fund shall be used for the higher education of any child or children having a legal residence within the area embraced by North Fairfield as the same existed in April 25, 1781 (now Town of Easton), said higher education to be pursued in some college or university within the United States, said child or children to be so benefited and educated in accordance with the terms of said trust....
